Stranded? This is the place for career advise and tips.
Choosing the right career can be difficult, but having a defined career direction will help you excel in your profession. But with a little hard work, some planning, and some serious self-reflection, you can set yourself on a path towards a fruitful, fulfilling career that can provide for you and your family.

Follow these steps below to narrow your potential career options:

1. Assess yourself - Each individual has different goals, talents, interests, and values. In other words, there are certain careers each individual should not pursue and others where they'd excel and be satisfied. Determine what you would enjoy and excel at by taking career assessments, receiving career counseling, and conducting thorough self-evaluation.

2. Make a list of potential occupations - After conducting some self-assessment, it should be apparent the types of careers you should pursue. It is not possible to pursue each one, so the list should be used to determine where to begin your career search. Select 5 - 10 careers and create a new list with these choices. When making your choices, select jobs that interest you.
3. Consult and research widely. Engage with people who work in jobs related to the careers you're considering. Spend an hour or two in the actual work environment, if possible, or maybe even volunteer. Try to meet with a professional in each field to obtain in-depth details about each profession. This will help you to learn more about each potential career and to narrow your list.

4. Narrow down your list - Eliminate careers that no longer interest you after thoroughly reviewing each one. Many people become dissuaded from pursuing a career after learning about education requirements, annual earnings, and declining industry growth. Once you've become acquainted with each career, narrow your list to 1-2 options.

5. Understand the demands and expectations of your career choice. Most careers have certain conditions that are associated with work. Like, most farmers work outdoors. Most teachers take work home every night during the school year. And most hairdressers stand on their feet all day. You need to find out what the conditions (stress levels, work hours and travel, physical environment, level of responsibility, etc.) are that will likely be associated with the types of work you'll be doing. Can you handle not only the work but also the conditions that you'll probably face?

6. Choose a career that fits who you are. When all's said and done, make sure you choose your major and your career based on... you! Make choices that reflect your personality, your abilities and motivation, your desired lifestyle, and your circumstances. And whatever choices you make, think through the next steps. It may seem like a long journey, but as Confucius said, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Good luck!!!
